Munich (dpa / lby) - At least four people died in traffic accidents in Bavaria on Friday and at the weekend. On Sunday, a 60-year-old motorcyclist crashed into the guard rail in a bend in Lower Bavaria and fell. He died at the accident site near Grainet (Freyung-Grafenau district). It was not immediately known why the man hit the guardrail.

In Kronach, Upper Franconia, a 34-year-old motorcyclist died during an overtaking maneuver. He had collided with a car and then been thrown onto the train tracks running next to the road, the police said after the accident on Friday evening.

A 60-year-old motorcyclist from Brandenburg had a fatal accident in the Upper Bavarian district of Altötting. According to the police, a 52-year-old had overlooked him and his machine when turning his car. The collision threw the motorcycle into another car.

Another motorcyclist died on Friday afternoon in a collision with a car in Waldkirchen, Lower Bavaria (Freyung-Grafenau district). A driver in the oncoming lane noticed the car in front of her too late. As a result of the collision, her car was thrown against the 20-year-old's motorcycle, the police said. The driver, her four-year-old son and the man whose car was hit suffered minor injuries.

Four people were injured when two cars collided on Saturday evening after a 26-year-old drove her car into the oncoming lane. According to the police, the driver and her two children had to be freed from the car by the fire brigade. The mother and the 68-year-old driver of the other car were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The children were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
