Lindau (dpa / lby) - The federal police stopped suspected smugglers with seven people in the back seat of the car at the Lindau border crossing on Lake Constance in Bavaria. Four passengers sat unbuckled on the back seat, two of them each had a child on their laps, another crouched in the footwell, as the investigators announced on Sunday. Accordingly, none of them was able to show valid border crossing documents when they were checked on Autobahn 96 on Saturday. Federal police officers arrested the 39-year-old driver and his 21-year-old passenger. They are now being investigated, among other things, on suspicion of attempted smuggling.
