Bavaria: Snow in northern Bavaria: DWD expects traffic delays

Munich (dpa / lby) - It remains wintry in the Free State. The German Weather Service (DWD) expects up to 10 centimeters of fresh snow on Wednesday in the eastern low mountain range and 5 centimeters in the northern lowlands. In some parts, this could mean traffic delays, said a spokesman for the DWD on Tuesday. In Franconia and the Upper Palatinate, the weather service expects frost and smoothness.

Already on Tuesday there was a slippery accident in Franconia. A 23-year-old came off the slippery road near Lautertal (Coburg district) with her car and rolled over several times, the police said. She was slightly injured in the accident.

While only a few flakes are expected to fall during the day on Tuesday, a cold front will bring snow to northern Bavaria on Wednesday night. In the Alps, the DWD expects 5 centimeters of fresh snow "almost every day in winter," the spokesman said. Storm gusts of 60 in the foothills of the Alps to 90 kilometers per hour above 2000 meters are also possible.
