Bavaria: Söder in Croatia: meeting with Plenkovic and Nehammer

It is his first, albeit short, trip abroad in a long time: Markus Söder travels to the Croatian island of Krk. The topic: energy.

Munich / Krk (dpa / lby) - Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) travels to Croatia for a day on Thursday. He wants to meet Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic and Austria's Chancellor Karl Nehammer on the island of Krk. The aim of the trip is to sound out new ways and possibilities in energy supply.

"Existing pipelines for hydrogen and natural gas are to be expanded and new ones added," Söder said before his trip. In front of the island of Krk, a new terminal for liquefied natural gas (LNG) with additional lines will be launched. "We want to help shape the future of energy supply in southern and central Europe on an equal footing with our partner countries," he explained.
