Bavaria: Start of the winter season with frost and sun

Munich (dpa/lby) - Sunny weather and frosty temperatures lured many hikers and skiers out in Bavaria at the weekend. After the sunny start, there should again be a few hours of sunshine on Sunday with temperatures around minus seven degrees Celsius, as a meteorologist from the German Weather Service said on Saturday. But thick fog is also expected, especially on the Danube.

Some ski resorts started the winter season on a sunny weekend and were happy with the weather. "The snowfall of the last few days and cold temperatures promise a picture-perfect start in time for Christmas," as Alpen Plus partners wrote in a press release.

Oberstdorf im Allgäu was also positive. The demand is quite high and many guests are expected "who are looking forward to making the first turns on the ski slope", as Tourism Oberstdorf announced.

The coming week will remain largely rain-free in the Free State and will then gradually become milder, as it was also said. For Monday, the DWD expects freezing rain again, especially in Franconia. It can be dangerous, but is not comparable to the situation of the previous week.
