Simbach (dpa / lby) - The police stopped a suspected smuggler in Lower Bavaria. The 45-year-old had crossed the German-Austrian border with his car and three other occupants near Simbach (Rottal-Inn district), the police said on Saturday. The driver was able to show a German residence permit during the check on Friday. However, the three passengers, aged between 22 and 35, had no identification documents with them.
According to the police, the driver also stated that he had picked up the three occupants in Braunau, Austria. A smuggling investigation was launched against him and he was allowed to continue his journey. The three passengers received reports of unauthorized entry and were then sent back to Austria.
