Bavaria: The mask requirement for clinics, medical practices and care has been lifted

Munich (dpa / lby) - From Saturday, there will be a relaxed mask requirement in Bavaria's medical practices, care facilities and hospitals. Instead of the previously mandatory FFP2 mask requirement, there is only an obligation to wear a medical face mask (surgical mask), the Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday in Munich. "With this decision by the Council of Ministers on Tuesday, we are following our course of providing relief wherever this is possible in view of the current corona situation," said Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU).

This means that from Saturday (May 28th) in Bavaria, an FFP2 mask will only have to be worn in local public transport. "In subways or buses, the risk of infection can be significantly higher than in other areas. Here, in a small space, there is contact with many different passengers who change at each station," said Holetschek. Therefore, it makes sense not to decide to relax the corona situation in public transport too early – especially with a view to the rush of passengers expected with the nine-euro ticket.
