Bavaria: Three candidates to succeed President Koch

Munich (dpa / lby) - Three candidates in the Bavarian Football Association are striving to succeed long-time President Rainer Koch. Christian Bernkopf (supervisor of the Southeast League), Christoph Kern (district chairman of Swabia) and Robert Schraudner (vice president, district chairman of Upper Bavaria) are the three men who would like to succeed Koch. The decision will be made at the Association Day on June 24th and 25th in Bad Gögging, Lower Bavaria.

Koch had already declared some time ago that he would no longer run for office. The lawyer had already announced this personal decision to the BFV board on March 12, just a few hours after the Bundestag of the German Football Association (DFB).

Koch had not been re-elected to the presidency there. He was a member of the DFB Executive Committee as Vice President for a total of 15 years. Koch had led the association on an interim basis as first vice president three times in the past few years, after Wolfgang Niersbach, Reinhard Grindel and, most recently, Fritz Keller, each resigned prematurely from the office of president.

The BFV Association Day is the highest decision-making body of the Bavarian Football Association and takes place regularly every four years. At the Association Day, the club representatives who make up the majority and the representatives elected at the previous district and district meetings elect the President and candidates for other offices and vote on fundamental motions.
