Eisenberg (dpa / lby) - In the Allgäu, an American tourist has convicted a mayor as an alleged thief. On Wednesday evening, the vacationer filmed a man at the Hohenfreyberg castle ruins in Eisenberg (Ostallgäu district), wearing gloves, tampering with the donation box for the preservation of the ruins, putting the money in his backpack and then riding his bike away.
As the police reported on Thursday, several patrols moved in to catch the crook. Ultimately, witnesses led to the trail of the wanted man. As the investigation revealed, it was the mayor himself who picked up the donations. The mayor took the investigation with humor, the officials reported. He explained that he occasionally drove past the ruins and emptied the donation box.
