Bavaria: trade association promotes energy saving

Munich (dpa / lby) - Bertram Brossardt, general manager of the Association of Bavarian Business, is promoting not only a gas and electricity price brake but also energy saving. "Every kilowatt hour that is not consumed reduces the scarcity and thus dampens the price increase," said Brossardt of the media group "Münchner Merkur/tz" (Wednesday). He sees savings potential in work processes or the lighting in the offices, for example.

In Brossardt's opinion, many companies could also switch from gas to oil relatively easily, but such a switch would be made unnecessarily difficult for them, since emissions approval procedures are complex and take a long time. "Things simply have to move faster in such a crisis situation. Small plants could also be completely exempted from such procedures."

He sees companies under pressure from several sides: "Explosive energy prices, expensive components, higher labor costs. For many, that can threaten their existence." In addition to companies, private consumers also suffered.
