Garmisch-Partenkirchen (dpa / lby) - A train derailed near Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Several people were injured on Friday, how badly it was initially unclear.
"There are at least slightly injured people," said the spokesman for the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria South, Stefan Sonntag. "It's a big effort that's going on right now." Wagons also overturned.
It is still unclear what exactly happened, in which direction the passenger train was traveling and how many passengers were in the wagons. The accident is said to have happened in the district of Burgrain in the Loisachauen. The "Bild" newspaper reported first.
A spokesman for the integrated control center in the Oberland spoke of several injured people being taken to the hospital. "A full alarm was raised for the fire and rescue services," he said. It is not yet clear how badly injured the people are. The federal police said they were on site with the emergency services.
The train blocked the route between Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Oberau. Trains from Munich turn early in Oberau. From the Mittenwald direction, the trains turn around early in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Replacement traffic is being planned, it said on Twitter.
