Maxhütte-Haidhof (dpa/lby) - Two 17-year-olds were injured in a traffic accident on Autobahn 93 in the Upper Palatinate, one of them seriously. According to the police on Sunday, the two drove on a motorcycle near Maxhütte-Haidhof (Schwandorf district) on Saturday evening. Accordingly, the young driver obviously cut straight in, and a car driving behind him then drove into the motorcycle. The seriously injured passenger was taken to a hospital by rescue helicopter.
The driver is now facing criminal proceedings for negligent bodily harm and suspected endangerment of road traffic. The freeway was closed in both directions for a short time.
