Bavaria: Two arson attacks on empty tent accommodation for refugees

According to the authorities, there were two arson attacks on a tent for Ukraine refugees within two days in Marklkofen, Lower Bavaria. As a spokesman for the Dingolfing-Landau district office said on Thursday, there was another attack on the still empty tent accommodation the night before. First, the Bavarian radio had reported about it.

The police announced this week that the tent had already been set on fire on Wednesday night. According to initial investigations, the perpetrator or perpetrators had used fire accelerants. There was damage of several 1000 euros. The tent, designed for 150 people, can still be used. The state security officers responsible for political crimes and the fire investigators are now investigating at the Landshut Criminal Police Office.

There was initially no further information from the district authority and the police about the second attack. A spokesman for the Lower Bavarian police headquarters announced that there would be a message about the incident on Thursday.

Due to the increasing number of refugees, the municipalities in Bavaria are currently examining how they can create additional accommodation. In this context, the tent in Marklkofen was set up.
