Bavaria: Union calls for further warning strikes

Munich (dpa / lby) - The warning strikes in the metal and electrical industry should continue. IG Metall has called for numerous rallies throughout Bavaria this Wednesday. The largest event is said to be in Munich in front of the MAN Truck plant

The employees are plagued by money worries and are now experiencing "how the employers are blocking and protracting this collective bargaining round," said the district manager of IG Metall Bavaria, Johann Horn, according to the announcement. "Our people are rightly pissed off. If the employers have not yet understood what the employees are willing and able to do, then there is no more helping them."

According to IG Metall, around 48,000 employees from 131 Bavarian companies took part in warning strikes on Tuesday. In front of the Audi headquarters in Ingolstadt, 20,000 employees from the region demonstrated for significantly higher wages. There were also large rallies with several thousand metalheads at BMW in Munich as well as in Nuremberg, Schweinfurt and Augsburg.
