Bavaria: Visiting folk festivals ends with violence on platforms

Indersdorf/Grafing (dpa/lby) - For a long time there were no folk festivals because of Corona - now the police are called upon again. On Father's Day there were several fights at train stations in Upper Bavaria. Some of the men were drunk, as the federal police reported on Friday. In Grafing (Ebersberg district), a 22-year-old German was first racially insulted by three young men "because of his dark skin" and then beaten and kicked on the ground, the police said.

The men were at the folk festival in Grandau. There was trouble in the same group before: Another 22-year-old is said to have pulled a switchblade and then been pushed into the track area by an 18-year-old. The 22-year-old was able to save himself, the police said. The S-Bahn arrived two minutes later. Some of the men are known for drug offenses.

Also at the train station in Indersdorf (Dachau district), several people bumped into each other and injured themselves after they were at a folk festival. The federal police had to threaten them with tear gas so that they let go of each other.
