Bavaria: Visitors to nursing homes do not need a certificate

Munich (dpa / lby) - After the confusion about free corona test options for visits to clinics and nursing homes, visitors to Bavaria no longer need a certificate from the facility. A spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Munich told the German Press Agency on Friday that a signed self-declaration by the visitor was sufficient.

The Federal Ministry of Health had abolished the free citizen tests for everyone this week and stipulated that only some groups, such as visitors to old people's homes and hospitals, received the free tests. Proof of eligibility, such as confirmation from the home, is required for this, it said.

Some nursing homes had already filled out such confirmations in the past few days. At test stations, customers learned that the test would only remain free with a form from the home. For the time being, other test stations did not give any more appointments because the specifications had to be checked first.

The Free State has noticed the confusion surrounding the new obligation to provide evidence for citizen tests and has already communicated to Berlin that "clarification must be made as soon as possible," said the spokesman. Bavaria will now inform the test sites themselves that no confirmation from the home or clinic is necessary. "Proof of the respective facility or hospital is currently not a mandatory requirement in order to receive a free citizen test as a visitor, resident or patient," emphasized the spokesman.
