Bavaria: Volunteer platform for dealing with the pandemic dissolved

Munich (dpa / lby) - The Association of Nurses in Bavaria (VdPB) has dissolved a volunteer platform to deal with the corona pandemic. The “Care Pool Bavaria” was discontinued on December 31, 2022, the VdPB announced on Tuesday in Munich. Since no further corona wave is expected for the time being, which would overload the health system, the platform was dissolved and the data of the volunteers deleted.

The association launched the "Bavarian care pool" in March 2020 to cushion the heavy burden on hospitals and care facilities caused by Covid-19. Specialists with free capacities could register on the platform and help out in healthcare facilities. According to the VdPB, the care pool recorded more than 4,300 entries from volunteers in the almost three years of its existence, more than half of them trained care professionals or from care assistant professions.
