Bavaria: water damage: problems in rail traffic in eastern Bavaria

Bodenwöhr (dpa / lby) - A failed signal box has led to extensive restrictions on rail traffic in eastern Bavaria. The connection between Schwandorf and Cham is affected, a spokeswoman for the state railway reported on Wednesday. There are therefore restrictions in parts of the route networks of oberpfalzbahn and alex.

All trains on the Oberpfalzbahn line RB 27 are canceled in both directions between Bodenwöhr Nord station and Schwandorf station. According to the Länderbahn, the alex train service with line RE 25 between Schwandorf station and Cham station had to be stopped in both directions. Alternatively, buses operate.

According to the spokeswoman, water damage led to the failure of the DB Netz AG signal box in Bodenwöhr (Schwandorf district). This put the control and safety technology required for rail traffic out of operation.

Significant travel restrictions must be expected, it said. Connections cannot always be guaranteed. The spokeswoman emphasized that travelers should inform themselves in the usual information portals before starting their journey. She was initially unable to say how long the disruption would last.
