Bavaria: "Wousiegl" conducts a survey on the pronunciation of place names

Wunsiedel (dpa/lby) - How do I correctly pronounce the neighboring town or even my own place of residence in Bavarian? This question, which many Bavarians have probably asked themselves, could soon be easier to answer in the Upper Franconian district of Wunsiedel in the Fichtelgebirge. The local district office has started an online survey to determine whether it is "Rawetz" or "Rawerts" (Marktredwitz), "Wousiegl" or "Wousiedl" (Wunsiedel), "Häichschdoood" or "Häigschdoood" (Höchstädt). According to the announcement on Friday, all municipalities in the district will be queried. Citizens can choose from predefined answers or add their own pronunciation.
