Augsburg (dpa / lby) - FC Augsburg recorded a comparatively small loss of 477,000 euros after taxes in the 2021/22 season. Managing Director Michael Ströll presented the figures on Monday evening at the general meeting of the Bundesliga soccer club. In view of the low income caused by the corona pandemic - there were three ghost games and six games with a lower number of spectators - the loss is relatively small.
FCA's turnover was around 91 million euros. One of the major sources of income was the sale of Marco Richter. In total, the Fuggerstädter earned around 14 million euros from player sales in the 2021/22 season.
The troubled Bundesliga club spent around 45 million euros on its employees, with the majority of the costs being borne by the professional team. The commitment of the currently injured midfielder Niklas Dorsch, which is said to have cost around seven million euros, also weighed heavily on the expenditure side.
Nevertheless: "FCA is financially sound and fully capable of acting at all times. We have no debts, but considerable equity, which represents a good basis for the future," said Ströll.
While the Augsburgers are in good financial shape, the performance in terms of play has recently lagged behind their own claims. "Nobody can be satisfied with three points from the last seven games and nobody is," quoted the "Augsburger Allgemeine" CEO Markus Krapf. After 14th place after the first half of the season, coach Enrico Maassen's team is once again threatened with relegation.
