Munich (dpa/lby) - Vice-champion EHC Red Bull Munich opens the new season in the German Ice Hockey League with an away game at the Kölner Haie. This emerges from the schedule that the DEL published on Friday. The opening game will therefore take place on September 15 (7:30 p.m.) in Cologne.
"It is a great pleasure for us to be able to open the new PENNY DEL season again against one of the most traditional clubs in German ice hockey," said EHC sports director Christian Winkler according to the club's announcement. The new edition of this year's final between Munich and Eisbären Berlin is on September 28th.
Champions League debutant Straubing Tigers welcome Nuremberg Ice Tigers to kick off. The ERC Ingolstadt travels to the Düsseldorfer EG and the Augsburger Panthers have to play at the Iserlohn Roosters (each on September 16th/7.30 p.m.).
As in the previous season, 15 clubs start in the race for the German championship. The main round of the DEL season ends on March 5, 2023.
