Munich (dpa / lby) - Before the start of the Champions League, FC Bayern Munich is still playing a rather unexpected top game in the Bundesliga. The league leaders are guests on Saturday (3.30 p.m.) at 1. FC Union Berlin, who, like Bayern, started the season surprisingly with ten points and are in second place.
Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann expressed appreciation for the development of the Berliners since their promotion in 2019 and respect for the task in front of the "great fans" in the stadium at the Alte Försterei. "It's difficult to play there, but it's doable," said Nagelsmann.
Bayern's declared aim is to defend the lead in the table and at the same time gain momentum for the start of the new Champions League season with a successful league game. Bayern have to play Inter Milan on Matchday 1 next Wednesday.
FC Augsburg does not play on the 5th Bundesliga matchday until Sunday (3:30 p.m.). Opponent in the Augsburg Arena is then Hertha BSC.
