Fürth (dpa / lby) - SpVgg Greuther Fürth wants to regain confidence in its own strength after the botched start of the season. "It's about encouraging the boys that we can play football. It's about internalizing that we can play well against any opponent," said coach Marc Schneider (42) before the second division home game against bottom-placed Karlsruher SC Friday (6.30 p.m.).
After two defeats in the league - including in the derby against 1. FC Nürnberg - and the bitter cup embarrassment against upper division club Stuttgarter Kickers, the Franconian Bundesliga relegated team is under pressure early in the season. "To speak badly and to do everything badly is relatively quick, but we have top guys," said Schneider and announced: "We want to deliver."
The coach described the personnel situation before the Karlsruhe game as "relatively good". Defense chief Sebastian Griesbeck (31) is ready for action again after his calf problems.
