Regensburg (dpa / lby) - Without head coach Mersad Selimbegovic, the football professionals at SSV Jahn Regensburg have started preparing for the second half of the second division. 20 field players and two goalkeepers were in action on Tuesday at the first practice session of the Upper Palatinate on the training ground.
According to the club, Selimbegovic is still in his Bosnian homeland, "where he has to be there to extend his coaching license". Co-trainer Sebastian Dreier led the first training session of the year. In addition to goalkeeper Dejan Stojanovic (metatarsal bone split off) and field players Scott Kennedy (shoulder) and Oscar Schönfelder (torn cruciate ligament), who were also injured, attacker Andreas Albers was also absent from the training ground due to calf problems.
"We managed to recharge the batteries in our free time. But there was enough time. Now we're all in the mood for football again," attacking player Aygün Yildirim was quoted as saying on the Jahn website after training.
