Herbert Grönemeyer's milestone album "Mensch" turns 20 this year. That should have been celebrated - with a series of shows in several German cities. But the concerts are now one and all falling into the water. The singer and other band members have Corona.
For all fans of Herbert Grönemeyer, this should come as a shock as well as a bitter disappointment. The musician, whose successful album "Mensch" is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, has been infected with the corona virus. And that has drastic consequences.
Therefore, all anniversary concerts that were planned for the next two weeks are cancelled. And without replacement, as stated in a statement by Grönemeyer's artist management on Instagram. Not only the singer himself, but also employees and band members were infected "despite all precautionary measures".
"Everyone here is deeply disappointed that we sadly have to cancel this tour and cannot play the concerts. We are very, very sorry, especially for all the people who wanted to come and for all the circumstances that it causes." it further. The first concert of the tour should have taken place on Thursday (May 26) in Hanover. Further shows were planned in Gelsenkirchen (May 28), Berlin (May 31, June 2, June 3), Leipzig (June 4), Hamburg (June 6) and Munich (June 8).
The cancellation of the concerts is "extremely bitter and devastating after more than two years of strict isolation and endurance tests during rehearsals," Grönemeyer's management continues. "Herbert and the others are feeling weird according to the situation, a mixture of sadness, anger and virus." Purchased tickets can be returned at the respective pre-sale points.
But at least a small consolation remains for the fans. The dates for Herbert Grönemeyer's next tour have already been set. Next year he will go on his "Herbert Grönemeyer - Live 2023" tour through eleven cities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland starting in May.
