Two stabbings that left two men with chest injuries in Belfast's city centre have resulted in a 27-year-old man being charged.

Two stabbings that left two men with chest injuries in Belfast's city centre have resulted in a 27-year-old man being charged.

Police were stopped by Bedford Street residents in the early hours of Saturday morning after they received a report of a fight.

One man was found with multiple stab wounds to the head and chest by officers.

A second victim was also attacked in Amelia Street shortly afterward. He received treatment for an injury to his upper chest.

Police have now charged the 27-year-old with wounding with intent for grievous bodily injury.

He was also charged with possessing an offensive weapon with intent of committing an indictable offense.

The accused will appear in Belfast Magistrates Court on Monday, 4 July.

While the man with multiple stab wounds was transported to hospital, another injured man was treated by an ambulance crew.

According to police, neither of the men is believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries.
