Berlin (dpa/bb) - At the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG), 130,000 of the 9-euro monthly tickets have already been sold up to and including Sunday - around 60 percent of them via digital channels, as a BVG spokesman announced on Monday on request. More recent figures were not initially available. The BVG had already started selling tickets on Friday after the Federal Council had cleared the way for the special tickets. The tickets have been available from Deutsche Bahn and most other transport associations since this Monday.
With the special tickets, passengers can travel throughout Germany in the valid month for 9 euros on local public transport. The monthly tickets can be booked for June, July and August. The federal government wants to relieve consumers in view of the high inflation with the offer and also make the switch to public transport more attractive.
