Broken family: Sido's drug confession - "In the end I was in the shack"

At the beginning of the corona pandemic, rapper Sido loses his footing and flees into the world of drugs. Although he wants to have freed himself from the vicious circle with the help of his wife in therapy. But the marriage was apparently beyond saving.

The marriage of the rapper Sidos and his wife Charlotte Würdig has apparently been significantly accelerated by the musician's drug crash and its consequences. As the 41-year-old told the "Spiegel", he slipped into a crisis at the beginning of the corona pandemic. He started taking pills, liquid ecstasy, speed and cocaine again. "Everything got out of hand. In the end I was in a rat." Only withdrawal in a clinic and subsequent therapy would have brought him back on track.

The drugs have slipped him into a cycle of addiction and sex, said the musician, whose real name is Paul Würdig. His wife threw him out. His family broke up because of it. Only in the clinic did he understand that he not only needed withdrawal, but also therapy. The stay in a psychiatric clinic took place at his own request after a total crash. His then wife, Charlotte Würdig, made the appointment for him.

"Without the withdrawal and the physical checks in the clinic, I probably wouldn't have survived this summer," he said. Today he is clean, but does not want to give up smoking weed because "this was never my problem".

"After a week I was through with the withdrawal, but I understood that this is just the beginning," he continued. During treatment, he then noticed what role his father's absence and the created fictional character Sido played in his problems. "I hate Sido and I love Sido."
