Change from ARD to RTL: Mareile Höppner becomes "EXTRA" presenter

Mareile Höppner has been leading the ARD magazine "Brisant" for the past 14 years. But now it's time for a new chapter in her moderation career. Höppner is switching exclusively to RTL. In the future, she will be presenting "EXTRA" here, among other things.

Mareile Höppner already started her TV career at RTL. At RTL Nord in Kiel, she first presented the weather before taking over as the main presenter at "Guten Abend RTL" in 2002. This was followed by other positions on public television, for example as a host of the MDR talk show "Riverboat". However, the ARD audience is likely to associate her primarily with the tabloid magazine "Brisant", for which she has been working since 2008.

But now the 45-year-old is returning to her old place of work. In autumn, Höppner switched exclusively from ARD to RTL Germany. Here she will present the magazine "EXTRA" in the future. But that's not all: she will also represent Dieter Könnes and Steffen Hallaschka on "stern TV" and "stern TV am Sonntag".

"'EXTRA' is one of the most successful magazine brands on German television and has always been moderated by strong women. With Mareile Höppner we have found our journalistic dream cast for the further expansion of 'EXTRA' and we are very pleased that she is part of the RTL family again is," says a delighted Stephan Schmitter, Managing Director of RTL NEWS and Chief Journalistic Content Officer of RTL Germany.

Höppner is also happy about her decision: "I'm looking forward to 'coming home'. And that's RTL for me. I started at RTL back then and learned to get excited about the job. People and their stories - that was always my drive and my passion."

Born in Hamburg, she is not only a passionate journalist. In her private time, she is also heavily involved in various children's charity projects and in the organization Orange Ocean, which campaigns against plastic in the seas. Höppner is also the mother of a son born in 2010.
