Charente-Maritime: Remy Carrouy and Brigitte Derouy are ineligible for six months

Remy Catrou has been talking for several weeks about "unavailability" in connection to an administrative question in order to justify not running in the third constituency's legislative elections. Now we know more. The current campaign manager for Nupes Gerald Danan (LFI), the opposition municipal councilor in Saintes, had to justify himself to administrative justice regarding his campaign accounts which were invalid. This was in the wake of his candidacy for the 2021 Departmental Elections, in the canton of Saint-Porchaire to the Union of the Left.

Remy Catrou was contacted by phone on May 31 to explain that "an important piece is missing", namely the accounting expertise associated with these accounts. We made an error in reading L 52-12 of the electoral codes. This accounting knowledge is not required if you are not able to win more than 5% of the vote or your expenses do not exceed 4,000 Euros. We spent 1,154 euro and made more than 5% (editor's note). We thought we didn’t need this accounting expertise. Arguments have been made about good faith and misinterpretation of the article.

The public rapporteur has presented his conclusions and requested a six-month sentence for Remy Catrou, Brigitte Derouy, as well as their deputies. They will not receive reimbursement for the 1,154 euro spent on the campaign due to their lack of accounting expertise. On Tuesday, June 7, the candidates will find out their fate.
