Couple's appearance at the Berlinale: Boris Becker holds hands

Boris Becker has been free again for around two months. And he enjoys that. Not only with his appearance at the Berlinale, where the documentary "Boom! Boom! The World vs. Boris Becker" premieres. But also with his girlfriend Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro. Together they make their red carpet debut.

The 73rd Berlinale is in full swing. The documentary "Boom! Boom! The World vs. Boris Becker" premiered on Sunday - in the presence of the protagonist Boris Becker and his girlfriend Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro. For the first time, the two walked the red carpet together.

Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro chose a strapless, black dress with an XXL train for her red carpet debut. She combined black pumps and silver earrings. Her partner Boris Becker had also dressed up: the tennis legend appeared in a black suit, a matching vest and a white shirt with a tie. Black lace-up shoes completed the outfit.

The visit to the Berlinale was "an honor", Becker wrote afterwards on his Instagram channel. He "sincerely hopes" that audiences will "enjoy" his film.

The film by director Alex Gibney sheds light on the successful career of Becker, who won Wimbledon at the age of just 17 and has won 49 titles in his career, including six Grand Slams and an Olympic gold medal. On the other hand, it's also about Becker's "sometimes turbulent private life", as stated in a press release from Apple TV at the end of 2022.

Despite ups and downs, Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro sticks to Boris Becker. Becker is said to have said to her before his arrest: "You are a young woman, you don't have to wait for me." As the tennis star said in an interview with the broadcaster Sat.1, de Carvalho Monteiro replied: "Boris, we are a team." She also visited him regularly in prison and attended court hearings.

In April 2022, Becker was sentenced to two and a half years in prison in England for several offenses in his bankruptcy proceedings. After a good seven months, however, he was released early from prison on December 15, 2022. The couple first appeared together in public at a tennis match in Wimbledon in July 2021.
