When Britney Spears deactivated her Instagram account last week, concerned fans prompted the police to come to her to check on things. The singer is now defending her short social media break with clear words – and is “shocked as hell” about the incident.
She is by far not the first or last celebrity to delete her Instagram account in the meantime. But with her sudden departure from the social media platform, Britney Spears worried some fans so much last week that they promptly called the police to check on the singer.
After reports had already circulated that the 41-year-old was "annoyed" by the incident, she spoke personally via Twitter to explain why she took a break from Instagram at all. "Too many" people have told her that she "looks like a dancing idiot and crazy," Spears wrote in a long thread, adding, "Yeah, it hurt my feelings. I'm sensitive."
She was also "shocked as hell" that some fans had called the police because of it. "It was really inappropriate," Spears pointed out. "I adore my fans, but those who did aren't real fans and I honestly felt like it was a way to make me look bad!" As the US celebrity portal "TMZ" reported, some officials had moved in, but left the property immediately after a short conversation with the singer. "I'm alive, I'm fine, I'm healthy and ready to start a new day," the "Toxic" interpreter addressed the abusive people directly. "To my true fans, God bless you!"
"TMZ" had already shared a statement from the singer on Friday, in which she refused actions like this. "I love and admire my fans, but this time it's gone a little too far and my privacy has been violated," Spears said. And further: "The police officers did not enter my house. When they were at my fence, they quickly realized that there was no problem and left immediately."
