After the killing of a three-month-old girl in the Schweinfurt district, the baby's mother is in custody. The 27-year-old admitted to having harmed the child, police and prosecutors said on Monday.
How exactly the girl died was initially just as unclear as the background to the act on Saturday in Geldersheim. An autopsy revealed that the girl died of violence.
Officials were called to a reception center for asylum seekers on Saturday because of the injured baby. The seriously injured child had already been treated there by an emergency doctor when investigators arrived. The girl died later in hospital from her injuries. According to initial investigations, the infant's mother had deliberately used violence against the child. She was arrested on the spot and is now in custody on suspicion of murder. Meanwhile, the investigation continued.
