After being struck with a hammer in a burglary in a Cullybackey house, County Antrim, a man in his 60s sustained injuries to his head.

After being struck with a hammer in a burglary in a Cullybackey house, County Antrim, a man in his 60s sustained injuries to his head.

Police received the report about the incident at Kilmakevit Crescent around 19:25 BST Saturday.

Police say that a man entered the house and struck the victim several times with a hammer, before walking off "empty handed".

The injuries sustained by the victim are not considered life-threatening.

Police made an appeal for information and determined that the suspect was approximately 5ft 10ins tall, medium build, and had fair hair.

According to them, he was wearing a black jacket and black tracksuit bottoms. He also had a dark-coloured hat.
