Despite the "Rust" lawsuit: Alec Baldwin smiles on the red carpet

After an initial success in court, Alec Baldwin suffered the next setback shortly thereafter. Several crew members are currently suing him because of the fatal accident on the set of his film "Rust". Nevertheless, the actor now appears in high spirits in public.

Alec Baldwin is in a good mood on the red carpet despite new charges over the fatal accident on the set of his western Rust. The actor attended the Roundabout Theater Company's annual gala in New York on Monday.

Alec Baldwin arrived at the event at the Ziegfeld Ballroom unaccompanied by his 39-year-old wife, Hilaria Baldwin. The 64-year-old Hollywood star wore a modest black suit with a dark tie over a gray and blue shirt. In some pictures, the actor smiles at the cameras, in other pictures he looks visibly touched.

At the end of February, three other "Rust" crew members filed suit against Alec Baldwin. They are said to be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder because of the accident in which cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was shot by a gun fired by Baldwin.

As a producer, they hold Baldwin responsible for "the failure to comply with industry safety regulations," according to the lawsuit. Those responsible for Baldwin are said to have ignored "reports of multiple firearm discharges" on the set.

Previously, Baldwin was able to achieve partial success in court. An additional charge of negligent homicide in connection with the use of firearms was dismissed. The potential sentence was reduced from five years to a maximum of 18 months. Prosecutors wanted to retrospectively apply a law to Baldwin that came into effect after the October 2021 fatal accident. After the intervention of his lawyers, however, this project failed.
