Detroit teenager charged with murder in the shooting deaths of a 5-year-old boy and two other people

The prosecutor's office announced that a 16-year old girl was charged with felony murder for fatally shooting a 5-year old boy .

Wayne County Prosecutor Kymworthy stated that another teenager was also taken into custody, but no charges were filed because there was not enough evidence.

Caleb Harris, five years old, was found dead Sunday night at a house on Evergreen Road with his mother LaShon Marshall, 28 and her boyfriend Aaron Benson, 32.

According to the prosecutor's office, Benson's cousin discovered the bodies after he had not heard from him in several days. The victims were all shot multiple times.

Police said that the two teens were taken into custody Monday after receiving tips from the public. Worthy identified the 16 year-old as Malcolm Ray Hardy.

He is being charged with three counts felony murder, two counts armed robbery and eight counts felony firearm. According to the prosecutor's offices, Hardy is being charged in adult status.

Authorities have not yet revealed the motive behind the killings. Worthy's office stated that certain aspects of the case are still under investigation.

Worthy stated in a statement that "the allegations in this case warrant charging defendant as an adult." "This case is really disturbing, especially in relation to Caleb. It is disappointing to learn that these crimes are being committed by a juvenile for many reasons.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Michael McGinnis, Commander of Detroit Police, stated that Caleb was very close to celebrating his 6th Birthday. His death was unimaginable, he said.

Caleb's paternal grandmother Shalesa Floyd said that Caleb's father is out of state and "is going through turmoil."

She said this week that her son was "falling apart". "I'm hurting deep."

Hardy will be arraigned March 1. It is not known if Hardy has retained an attorney.
