DFB Cup: First round of the cup: HSV, St. Pauli, Hansa Rostock favorites

The second division football teams Hamburger SV, FC St. Pauli and Hansa Rostock as well as regional division team VfB Lübeck are taking part in the cup action this Saturday. A northern duel is on the agenda: Lübeck versus Rostock. Two years ago both were united in the 3rd league, after that they parted ways. On paper, FC Hansa is the clear favourite. However, VfB sees opportunities to throw the HSV conqueror out of the race. The game will kick off at 3:31 p.m., just like HSV’s game at SpVgg Bayreuth, which has been promoted to the third division.

The Hamburgers want to go far again after their semi-final participation last year. But Bayreuth shows no respect for the well-known rival. "The opponent can be beaten," said Bayreuth player Alexander Nollenberger. Central defender Mario Vuskovic plays with a thumb splint at HSV. City rivals FC St. Pauli are already challenged at 1.01 p.m. in Duisburg by the Lower Rhine regional league club SV Straelen. Trainer Timo Schultz praised Straelen's "good compactness and physique" as well as "an incredible vita" of the trainer: The coach is ex-Dortmund professional Sunday Oliseh.
