DSDS anniversary – casting finale: Malle-lust versus camping frustration

The last hurdle before boarding the "Recall" plane to Malle is the highest to date. 40 selected candidates finally get on the plane towards Malle. Instead of luxury vibes, the superstar contenders can expect survival camping and a hooting "beer king" pack.

For weeks, long queues formed in front of the entrance gates at the DSDS casting locations in Munich, Cologne and Hamburg. Hundreds of singing talents from all over the country came to show Katja Krasavice, Leony, Pietro Lombardi and Dieter Bohlen that they have what it takes to become a superstar. On the final casting day, the last candidates want to take their chance and come a little closer to their dream of living in the pop fast lane.

Once again, the candidates merge with their pop and rock idols. It doesn't matter whether it's Elvis, Elton John, Aretha Franklin or Roland Kaiser: With the hero in their ears and the dream of becoming a superstar in their hearts, the candidates get the most out of themselves. Of course, on the last day of the casting, a few hobby musicians are also out of the ordinary, such as Tilly Horn from Monheim am Rhein. The mother of two caused a sensation when she was only eleven when she took second place in "Supertalent".

15 years later she dares a second attempt - and this time the performance ends with a lot of cheering, hustle and bustle and even more cheerfulness. Juror Leony is so enthusiastic about Tilly's voice that she hands over her golden CD to the visibly overwhelmed comeback - and with it the ticket for the next round. Esther from Mönchengladbach, who follows in the footsteps of the young Aretha Franklin, also secures her "Recall" ticket with a lot of feeling and vocal volume.

"It's going to be the hottest recall ever!"

After the eleventh round of casting, 120 newcomers hungry for success are ready at the end. But only 40 make it onto the plane to Mallorca after the final "quick pick". Once again, each individual candidate has to prove themselves to the critical jury with a selected song. Travel guide Dieter Bohlen knows exactly how to get his superstar flock really hot: "Guys, this will be the hottest recall ever! First it's off to Malle and then to Thailand!" The crowd cheers. By now, at the latest, the heart of the last candidate is also beating in joyful dancefloor beats.

As expected, the relentless round of sorting takes the entire squad very emotionally. It is rapped, roared, sung and beaten. Joy and sorrow are very close together. While the tears flow from those who failed, selected candidates such as Isa, Gigi-Buddy Peris and reality starlet Jill pop the imaginary corks: "Mallorca, here we come!", the winners cheer in chorus.

Outhouse and outdoor shower instead of bubbly and a beach bar

A few hours later, the lucky 40 people land on Germany's most popular holiday island. Instead of bubbly and beach luxury, however, the candidates expect camping frustration and pampa vibes. Far away from the hustle and bustle of Mallorca, the disappointed crowd has to make do with the outhouse, outdoor shower and tent mattresses.

But the frustration doesn't last long for three candidates, because party mouse Jill, gold throat Natalie and "Bounce" world champion Big N are allowed to spend their first evening on Mallorca on the stage of the legendary "Beer King". The three from the DSDS gas station don't splash out either and give the cheering crowd what they deserve. After Helene Fischer, Beatrice Egli and self-made street rap, the entire "Bierkönig" crowd trumpets in unison: "Let's bounce motherfucker, let's bounce!" DSDS on Malle. Runs!
