A 49-year-old civil guard from the traffic group died this Saturday afternoon in Asturias when he was on protection service in a cycling race and after being hit by a stolen vehicle.
Sources close to the investigation have told Efe that the event took place at 5:40 p.m. at km 8 of the AS-236 highway when the D.G.L. agent, a motorist from the Oviedo detachment, was on duty in the Santiago cycling sports event Santana, in the Asturian municipality of Grado.
Sources from the Government delegation have specified that the driver, who was fleeing with a vehicle from a brawl in the town of Pravia, ran over the agent, on a motorcycle, who died on the spot.
After the event, the driver has fled and so far has not been located.
