The episode also comes from your kingdom's yearslong warfare against Yemen's Houthi rebels. The Houthis have previously used bomb-laden drones and explosive-packed ships in strikes targeting the realm. On the other hand, the rebels didn't immediately claim any assaults on Tuesday.

The state-run Saudi Press Agency quoted Saudi army spokesman Col. Turki al-Maliki stating the vent was targeted at the drone ship.

"The booby-trapped ship was coped and destroyed in accordance with the principles of participation," the report lent al-Maliki as stating, without supplying evidence to support his claim.

"After about three hour of this U.S. issuing warning and running defensive maneuvers, the (Iranian) vessels maneuvered from the U.S. boats and opened space between them."
