Extremadura An Early Childhood teacher in Don Benito arrested for causing continuous injuries to 3 and 4-year-old children at school

A 54-year-old teacher from the Nuestra Señora del Pilar School of Early Childhood and Primary Education (CEIP), in Don Benito (Badajoz), has gone to court this Wednesday for an alleged continued crime against moral integrity and injuries to children between the ages of three and four years of this center. The teacher was arrested on Tuesday by agents of the National Police, within the proceedings carried out by Court No. 2 of this town, following a complaint from the parents of the students due to the alleged "vexatious treatment" that she gave in her Primary class for minors.

The teacher was removed from work a few days ago as a result of the file opened by administrative means by the Ministry of Education after the complaints filed. After spending the night in police stations, the teacher has given a statement and the head of the case has ordered her provisional release on charges with the obligation to appear in court on the 1st and 15th of each month. In addition, she has not adopted any removal measure as the suspension of employment and salary of the investigated party has already been administratively agreed, as reported by the Superior Court of Justice of Extremadura.

The facts investigated allegedly began in 2019 when the mother of one of the minors alerted the educational center about the treatment that the teacher gave to the children. Subsequently, more relatives of students reiterated this version, although the complaint was not filed at police stations until March 2.

In addition, the head of the Court is also investigating a former director of the school and an Education inspector in case they were responsible for what happened by allegedly having knowledge of what was happening and not acting or having made decisions in this regard. The investigation is still open.
