In the Thai love paradise, things are now happening in quick succession. The three unlucky guys Tom, Alex and Emanuell, who were sorted out before the grand finale, are not yet on the plane when the next challenge is announced for the courtship troupe, which has now shrunk to a trio. "May I introduce my parents!" The bachelorette grins from ear to ear. For Lukas, Steffen and Jan, perhaps the most important minutes before the last two roses are awarded are now beginning.
In the presence of the family boss, the pants are lowered, after all, at some point the really important questions have to be answered. At some point, the visibly excited mom takes the dramaturgy in a headlock, pushes aside all clarifications and eventualities and gets straight to the point: "Can you lay parquet floors or dance better?" Luckily, all of the men pick up the ball, making for a smooth cross-examination.
Sharon's dad would now "open the door" to all sorts of sons-in-law. The Bachelorette's best friends, who have also flown in, also put three pink ticks without hesitation. Oh yes, everything could be so nice if it weren't for a permanent new decision. Shortly before the penultimate rose ceremony, every prince charming can quickly whisper a few emotional words in the direction of the camera. The gate to Steffen's heart is now "wide open". Jan would just like to "go home with Sharon". For Muckibär Lukas, the whole thing is now "a matter of the heart".
The bachelorette turns into a gloomy little Bangkok alley in the silver glitter fummel. The three remaining people have been standing there with their legs in the stomach for a few minutes. Jan gets the first rose. Then Luke can be happy. Steffen, on the other hand, has to swallow the bitterest relay pill to date just before the finish. Without a rose in your hand, you take a tuk-tuk taxi back to the hotel. Sharon's heart decided against Steffen. The third-placed wipes his mouth briefly, but then looks ahead again with a smile on his face: "What the heart says, that's what it says" are Steffen's last words.
For the two finalists Jan and Lukas, the goal is now within reach. Two overnight dates with lots of champagne, fries, beer and a lot of togetherness should eliminate the last doubts, bring clarity and bring the emotional format journey to an end with a big exclamation mark. While Jan fights with "bumblebees in his tummy" on the day of the decision, Lukas only wants to "take his Sharon with him to Germany".
The main protagonist is now sure. Belly, heart and head finally form a unit. Sharon is ready. A deluxe pool shimmers in the moonlight on a high-rise rooftop. A glass walkway presents itself framed by countless candle lights. Now the two courtship gladiators trot into the picture. Squeezed in the finest twine, Jan and Lukas listen to the final words of the bachelorette. Both men hold their breath convulsively for two minutes. Then Sharon turns to Lukas with glassy eyes: "I feel very strongly for you, but my heart tells me that I feel a little more for another man," the Bachelorette sobs.
It's the moment that causes impotent silence, not only in front of Germany's TV sets. Did Sharon actually decide against Lukas and for Jan? Yes she has. Love does what it wants. So the first (Jan got out of the car as the first candidate at the beginning of the season) is also the last. "It hurts, I have to digest that first," comments Lukas in a shaky voice. Since the clocks tick much faster in the motley world of television, Sharon, Lukas, Jan and Co. are already sitting on the debriefing couch with Sophia Thomalla one commercial block later.
A few memory loops, a few snappy jokes from the self-proclaimed "oak of the German boulevard" and a few "ex-wifes" who review the love affair of their lives finally put the lid on it. The ninth "Bachelorette" season is history.
