Hugo Zemmour, the eldest son of French politician Éric Zemmour, who was a candidate for the presidential elections a year ago, has caused a serious traffic accident this Saturday in Paris when he was driving drunk, according to the newspaper Le Parisien. The accident, according to this medium, has caused two serious injuries. The young man will have to appear before the investigating judge this Monday.

According to the newspaper's version, the 25-year-old young man had the accident with a scooter, when he was driving at high speed, because he did not respect the priority that he had at a street crossing, in the VI district of the capital. It was seven in the morning. The two occupants of the motorcycle were seriously injured, although their lives are not in danger.

Hugo Zemmour, who was not injured, was arrested by the police and brought to justice "for involuntary injuries aggravated by alcohol and the manifest violation of an obligation of prudence and security," according to the Prosecutor's Office. Le Parisien indicates that a knife was found inside the wrecked vehicle, so he will have to explain for "transportation of category D weapons."

The image of the crash, published by this newspaper, shows the wrecked car and the motorcycle lying on the ground. The investigation is being carried out by the Traffic Accident Judicial Treatment Service (STJA, in its French acronym). The breathalyzer test revealed a low rate of 1.6 grams of alcohol in the blood, that is, three times what is allowed.

Hugo Zemmour is the eldest of the three sons of the far-right politician, who ran for the presidential election a year ago in which Emmanuel Macron was re-elected with his Reconquête (Reconquest) party. Zemmour, who presented himself with a very controversial program and speech, especially regarding immigration, did not pass the first electoral round.

The young Hugo, who studied Law and History at Panthéon Assas University in Paris, has followed in his father's footsteps into politics, becoming a parliamentary aide in 2016.
