Galicia They issue a restraining order to a priest accused of raping his brother's daughters

A priest from several parishes in the O Carballiño area, in Ourense, will not be able to approach less than 500 meters from where his nieces, daughters of his brother, are located, who have filed two independent complaints against him for sexual assaults against them in a manner continued.

The precautionary measure, as reported by judicial sources on Monday, was issued last Saturday by the duty court of Ourense, the number one investigation court, headed by the dean, Leonardo Álvarez.

The parish priest F.M.M.L appeared in that court on the morning of the 11th, covered by a mask and in the company of a lawyer, where a statement was taken from him as being investigated for crimes of sexual assault.

The also secretary of the Vicaría de Pastoral and who was chaplain of the Divino Maestro school was summoned as being investigated and was not arrested, the Galician Superior Court of Justice has told EFE, which has also reported that "the judge imposed the following measures: prohibition of approaching the complainants, prohibition of communication with them, prohibition of leaving the national territory, withdrawal of the passport and biweekly appearances".

One of the alleged victims had already filed a complaint in November 2019 and then the same protection was established as now pending trial.

In that complaint, they only spoke of abuse, for which there was a statute of limitations of ten years after the alleged victim reached the age of majority.

When she took that step alone, that of revealing what had happened to her since she was a child and from what she later learned that her little sister had also gone through, a decade, a month and a day had passed since she was 18 years old, so that the case was at that time archived.

However, the prescription for crimes of sexual assault is 15 years according to the Penal Code of the time, by which they must be governed.

The noted religious, a native of Vistahermosa, in the city of Ourense, was ordained in 1995.

The Family and Women's Care Unit (UFAM) of the National Police is handling the case.
