Greeting from the air: Tom Cruise says thank you in his own way

Tom Cruise is known for his hard-hitting action films, in which he does most of the stunts himself. It goes without saying that he doesn't thank his fans with an ordinary video on social media. Once again he dares everything.

Actor and film producer Tom Cruise thanked his fans for going to the cinema during a jump from a dizzy height. "Thank you for supporting 'Top Gun: Maverick' and thank you for letting us entertain you. It's really a great honor for us," the 60-year-old shouted at the camera.

At the beginning of the Twitter clip, Cruise says that he is currently filming the new "Mission: Impossible" part in South Africa. He doesn't want the year to end without a thank you. Then director Christopher McQuarrie interrupts him: It's now time to shoot the scene. Cruise jumps and also wishes a happy holiday in free fall.

Cruise had the biggest box-office success of his career that year with Top Gun: Maverick. According to industry portal Boxofficemojo, the strip starring Cruise as pilot Pete Mitchell, aka Maverick, grossed over $291 million in just ten days in North America alone.

Previous hit films by Cruise such as "Rain Man", "The Mummy" or "Mission: Impossible" episodes had each brought less. The action film "Mission: Impossible 7 - Dead Reckoning Part 1" with Tom Cruise as Agent Ethan Hunt is scheduled to hit theaters in July 2023.
