'He just wanted to be a dad': Britney's son defends Jamie Spears

Britney Spears has two sons from her marriage to Kevin Federline. They largely stay out of the public dispute between the singer and her family - until now. 15-year-old Jayden James now expresses himself in an interview and distances himself from his mother.

Britney Spears has reportedly not seen her sons Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, in months. At least that's what Kevin Federline, the father of the two teenagers and the singer's ex-husband, recently claimed in interviews with the British broadcaster ITV, But son Jayden also spoke about his mother in a conversation with the broadcaster, like the "Daily Mail" now reported.

It feels "no hate," says Jayden James in the interview, which is to be shown as part of a one-hour documentary. At the same time, he explains, it will take "a lot of time and effort" to repair the broken relationship with his mother, even if he is 100 percent convinced that this will succeed. "I just want her to be better mentally. When she's better, I really want to see her again." Addressing his mother directly, he adds, "I love you very much, I hope the best for you. Maybe one day we can sit down and talk like this."

Jayden James and his brother Sean Preston were not present at their mother's wedding to Sam Asghari, the 15-year-old confirms in the interview. "Back then it just wasn't a good time to go there," he explains. "I'm not saying I'm not happy for her. I'm really happy for her but she didn't invite the whole family and if it was just Preston and I then I just don't see how this situation ended well would have."

Britney Spears has repeatedly lashed out at her father Jamie Spears and her family over the past few months as she fights guardianship. "At first he was just trying to be like any father and let his daughter pursue her dream of becoming a superstar," says Jayden James. "But I think the guardianship lasted too long, probably my mother was so angry that she worked so long and I think she should have taken a break."

According to the teenager, he didn't deserve the hatred his grandfather received in the media. "I love him with all my heart. He was just trying to be a father." He also has nothing negative to say about his grandmother Lynne Spears: "Whenever I see her, she takes care of me. They are not bad people!"

Jayden James apparently has a split relationship with his mother's appearances on social media. "Social media helps her, so if that's what she wants to do, I won't hate her for it." At the same time, he has the feeling that his mother only wants to get attention through her postings. "It's been going on for years and she'll probably never stop, but I hope for myself that she will."

As in previous months, the singer is using social media as a mouthpiece this time. Spears has already responded to her son's statements in an Instagram post. Her love for her children has "no limits," she assures, adding: "It saddens me deeply to hear that I did not live up to his expectations as a mother." Jayden James also said in an interview with a view to his childhood, his mother had problems paying attention to him and his brother and "showing us equal love". He thinks Sean Preston in particular didn't show them enough. The singer now says she hopes to one day meet up with her sons and talk openly about it.

Father Kevin Federline has revealed in his talks with ITV that his sons have not seen their mother for several months. This was the decision of Sean Preston and Jayden James, he emphasized. The media interest that accompanied the dispute over guardianship also had an impact on him and his sons. It was hard for him to see what the two boys had to go through because of it.

Britney Spears also responded to this in an Instagram story. It makes her sad "that my ex-husband decided to discuss the relationship between me and my children," she said, among other things. Everyone knows that raising teenagers is never easy. "I gave them everything," Spears said.

Kevin Federline was once the singer's backup dancer. He and Britney Spears were married from 2004 to 2007. After the divorce, he was awarded custody of their sons. In January 2008, the singer barricaded herself in her home with her children. In the same month, she was forcibly admitted to a clinic. Her father was appointed guardian by a court. In November 2021, a judge lifted Jamie Spears' guardianship.
