Sontra (dpa / lhe) - Unknown robbers committed theft with damage of 100,000 euros on the highway construction site of the Boyneburg Tunnel in northern Hesse. On Sunday evening and early morning, the perpetrators are said to have tapped around 500 liters of diesel fuel from two vehicles, pried open the power distribution box in the tunnel and cut off the ongoing power distribution, the police said on Monday.
They then dismantled and stole 12 tons of power cables from both tubes of the tunnel. In addition, the thieves are said to have forcibly opened a lock in front of a construction container and taken tools with them. The perpetrators opened the construction fences to gain access to the tunnel construction site on Autobahn 44.
