Rüdesheim (dpa/lhe) - On Tuesday evening, the Hessian explosive ordnance clearance service defused a World War II bomb near the Niederwald memorial above Rüdesheim. The US-American 250-kilogram dud was discovered during routine explorations of the explosive ordnance clearance, as the Wiesbaden police headquarters told the German Press Agency. Forest paths were blocked within a radius of 500 meters and an open area was controlled by a police helicopter.
