Hesse: 28-year-old is said to have injured a police officer

Hattersheim (dpa/lhe) - A 28-year-old man is said to have injured a policewoman during an operation in Hattersheim (Main-Taunus-Kreis). The police headquarters in Wiesbaden announced on Monday that he had pushed the officer aside on Sunday evening to flee from an arrest.

The man is said to have previously gained access to the basement of an apartment building with several other people in order to stay there, a police spokesman said. There he may have wanted to consume alcohol or drugs. A police officer pursued the fugitive 28-year-old and brought him to the ground after several hundred meters. He also put up a fight.

According to the spokesman, the policewoman injured herself when the 28-year-old pushed her violently. She was taken to a hospital and could not continue her ministry. She will no longer be able to work for a long time. The spokesman did not provide more details on the nature of her injuries. Proceedings are pending against the suspect for resistance and physical assault on law enforcement officers and for trespassing, it was said.
