Hesse: 283 state benefits can already be applied for digitally

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - More than two thirds of Hessian administrative services will be digitized by the end of the year. Digitization Minister Kristina Sinemus (CDU) said on Thursday in a summary of the implementation of the Online Access Act (OZG) that all Hessians could already apply for 283 state services electronically via the respective authority. However, the services available online in the cities and municipalities vary depending on the digitization progress of the respective municipality.

"Even if the time target, comprehensive availability by the end of 2022, cannot be achieved due to various hurdles, we are firmly convinced of the path we have taken," said the minister on the balance sheet after five years. But it was a "big step in the right direction". In some municipalities in Hesse, for example, it is already possible to do wedding preparations on the go or to register the new animal family member comfortably from the couch at home.

Since the beginning of 2021, the municipalities of Darmstadt, Neu-Isenburg, Gießen district, Großalmerode, Groß-Gerau district, Hofbieber, Marburg, Marburg-Biedenkopf district, Taunusstein, Usingen, Viernheim, Volkmarsen, Wanfried, Wetzlar and Wiesbaden have been helping as so-called OZG model municipalities of digitization in Hesse. They are pioneers here because they develop and test certain digital applications as models for all other cities and communities in Hesse.
